All wild birds, their eggs and nests are protected by law.
 
However, the Department of the Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food have granted a general licence under The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, for the control of certain pest bird species.
 
These are:
 

  Feral Pigeon

  Starling

  Sparrow

  Gull (certain species)

  Crow

  Jay

  Collared Dove

  Magpie

  Rook

  Jackdaw.
