On Time

The project was completed on time, no disruption to business during opening times.
“Safeguard provided our client with a first class job right through from the initial site survey to the completion of the netting project.Their staff, both on and off site, were fantastic, which resulted in the work going through without a hitch and coming in on time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Safeguard for any pest control project”

The challenge

Our client was instructed to carry out internal and external refurbishment works, which formed part of the upgrade project at the Tesco branch. High on their priority list in terms of their tasks was redecorating and cleaning the high-level pillar/beam structures to the front and side elevations.

These pillars and beams were perfect perching, nesting and roosting structures for most pest bird species, which meant the canopy was already netted with old and grimy nets. As a result this prevented the contractor from gaining access to the metal structures in question.

How we helped

During our initial site inspection we noticed that the existing netting was damaged in several areas and was leaving gaps between the net and structure. All existing netting from the entire canopy by the main entrance and around the trolley and loading bays had to be removed and replaced.

Due to the location of the works and the store being open 24-hours a day, most of our installation was carried out during traditionally non-business. In order to meet the deadline of the store handover we scheduled the works to be carried out over the weekend as well as evening shifts.

Results

Safeguard assigned a two-man team to complete the works over six shifts. Several types of access equipment were used to ensure the works were carried out in a safe manner. In total we installed over 600 square metres of new black pigeon netting, which has a mesh size of 50mm.
