Pest Management Sector confirmed as Essential Service

Since the government announced the COVID-19 enhancements on 23 March 2020; Safeguard Pest Control and Environmental Services has been on the frontline supporting their clients, in providing both pest control and environmental services; including our Virucide Decontamination Service.

The importance of the professional pest management sector in the UK has a critical role to play for essential services, keyworkers and beyond.

Pest management has now been confirmed as an essential sector during the COVID-19 pandemic by George Eustice, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

According to Defra, pest management is covered in the key worker list under the “food and necessary goods” section, specifically concerning hygiene.

This confirmation means that should further enhancements be announced, pest management professionals would be allowed to continue protecting the nation.
